Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
When looking at my preliminary task and comparing it to my magazine I can see that I have progressed a lot. The level of detail that I have put in my magazine in comparison to my preliminary task is a lot higher. One reason for this is due to the fact that I had time to plan it and focus on each little detail instead of just the magazine as a whole. For example I could put a lot of time into things such as my logo and picture which I believe are the main aspects in making a magazine look professional. The colour scheme between the two magazines I believe makes a big difference in their apperance. My preliminary task did not really have a colour scheme and therefore looks quite tacky and unorganised when putting it next to my magazine which looks quite unique. The amount of research I was able to put into real media products such as NME and Q played a big part in my progression as I could focus on what they were doing and including to make their magazines so popular and look so professional.
In terms of the pictures of the artists, I feel that as a result of my greater knowlege of photoshop in comparsion to when doing the prelim had a big part to play in my progression. The pictures that I used in my prelim were not edited in anyway due to the fact that I did not understand how to use photoshop properly and therefore left them as the original picture on my front cover. However when coming to do my real magazine I had a far greater understanding of how to use photoshop and could therefore use that to my advtange and change my different aspects of the images to make them look more professional.
The level of detail that I have gone into on my front cover of my real magazine as opposed to my prelim task shows my progression. The front cover of my prelminary task looks bare and unfinished and therefore looks very unprofessional. However on my real magazine my page is full of information about what is inside the magazine which therefore gives the reader a lot to look at and focus on. This makes the front cover of my magazine look a lot more professional.
When looking at the contents pages of the two pieces there is a big difference. The contents page on my preliminary task looks rushed and unplanned. When comparing it to professional magazines there is no comparison and this therefore shows how my lack of research effected my product. However when looking at the contents page of my real magazine there are a number of similaraties between that and magazines that I focused on such as NME. This shows that as a result of doing my contents page research it has beneffited my product.
Overall believe there has been a huge progression between my preliminary task and my real magazine. I had a lot more time to research, plan and construct my real magazine than I did with my prelim which is why it looks a lot better.
